Ang Paghinumdum sa Moropóro (Remembering the Pleiades)

Matarika Festival art work - Freyberg Square

Located in the heart of Auckland's central business district, Freyberg Square is a wonderful civic space. It is a favourite venue for festival celebrations and cultural events. It is also a site for one of Auckland's many farmers markets.

To honour the Māori holiday of Matariki, the steps of the square have been transformed into a brilliantly colourful representation of the star cluster (the Pleiades) known in Māori as Matariki.
