Oram's Marine Supply - the work area
Viaduct Harbour - revelry at night
From 2009 onward the transformation of my harbour front neighbourhood has been dramatic, if not astounding. The contemporary impressions of the area illustrated in my photographs found above serve as bookends, the legacy of an industrial past and the hallmarks of an entertainment and cultural events destination.
Furthermore, the quarter's numerous linear and pocket parks and the vast network of rain gardens attract families and tourists alike.
A significant portion of my subsequent posts will focus on the ambiance of the quarter.
For those interested in an overview of the urban design vision of Wynyard Quarter and challenges in the execution of that vision, the set of 5 short videos below may prove helpful. My thanks to Chris Farhi for his excellent video blogs.
