NZ Visual Diary - entry 168
turn of the screw
Today’s image features a still life captured in one of Wynyard Quarter’s numerous playgrounds. The play area is host to several water features including a mechanical screw that when rotated lifts water from a ground-level bucket to a second bucket above ground. I’m not sure what fascinates and delights children more: the fun of hoisting water with a turn of the screw or the optical illusion the screw movement creates as it twirls.
My own flight of creativity reimagines play objects of the water feature park as the props of photographic still life.
