a caress on Ponsonby Road
Permit me first to admit that a stand, as it were, of mature trees along a city street can be a vexation for a photographer who pursues architectural photography. Leafy trees often obscure the architectural details of a well appointed, but low profile, building facade.
That said, a barren street, one denuded of mature trees and rain gardens, is just ugly and unappealing.
The image in today’s post is an exemplar of a sylvan aesthetic in urban spaces: the caress of tree and Art Deco architecture is a joy to behold.
An arboreal caress is a desirable, indeed necessary, ingredient of refined urban design.
