80 Ponsonby Road
Like its neighbour (Lord Ponsonby Antiques) at 84/86 Ponsonby Road, the building at 80 Ponsonby Road projects the look of a structure whose appearance has been frozen in the late 19th century, relatively untouched by fashion although worn by the passage of time.
The street facade of the building has an curious mix of architectural features: there are four pilasters that divide the building face into three symmetrical segments, but the asymmetrical window placements upset that balance.
Each of the facade’s four windows has a three-sided cement surround topped by a simple but attractive half-moon pediment.
The roof line incorporates a balustrade that is interspersed with cement segments which stand in as (or maybe should be considered) capitals atop each of the four pilasters.
The building is home to a vintage clothing shop named Search and Destroy.
