The Shakespeare
The Shakespeare Hotel; the Shakespeare Restaurant; the Shakespeare Pub; the Shakespeare Brewery. A pub by any other name is still a pub.
It may also have the most iconic domain name in New Zealand: www.shakespeare.nz
By any of its many monikers, the Shakespeare is a great place.
When my wife and I want a great burger, a fabulous craft beer and a good game of pool, we head for the Shakespeare.
We also play a special game of darts that Randolph calls ‘William Tell darts.’ She has me stand to one side of the dart board and then announces that she will throw a dart and see where it lands. Beers all around when she hits the board.
The owner of the establishment is a jovial fellow named Sunny. It works.
The website is deservedly boastful:
The Shakespeare brewery is New Zealand’s Oldest Microbrew pub. The Brewhouse was installed nearly 4 decades ago and pumps out around 1200L of beer per brew. The Brewery has been making some stunning craft brews for nearly 40 years, longer than any brew pub in the country! No style is left out by our experimental Head Brewer, who is creating a portfolio of fantastic beers to take you on a world-wide beer journey.1
