With hints of spring in the air and the prospect of rain postponed until late afternoon, Karanga Plaza in the Wynyard Quarter district of central Auckland swells with street life, both transient and stationary.

Children tentatively dip toes into still cold harbour water aside the Wynyard Crossing bridge.

Drydock sunbathers on oversized timber day beds revive memories of summers past and passively practice the signature spectacle of summer to come.
