colour explosion - Freyberg Square
As if guided by Earth’s magnetic field in much the same manner as a flock of birds, my Auckland city centre walkabouts draw me to Freyberg Square. There is certainty in my navigational route: a confidence that upon arrival I will be greeted with vibrant visual nourishment.
In anticipation of the rebirth of ART WEEK in Auckland after its hiatus during the series of COVID lockdowns, the business association of Auckland’s city centre — Heart of the City — commissioned a colour explosion at Freyberg Square. The dynamism of asymmetry that marks the square’s central steps has been accentuated by pulsating patterns of line and colour.
I look forward to the kick-off of Art Week on the 14th of October.
Great metaphor with birds!!!
