Clock Tower ceiling
Inside and out, the Clock Tower is an architectural marvel. For several years, my attempts to photograph this architectural icon on the University of Auckland campus were thwarted by its inaccessibility. Extensive scaffolding encased the exterior of the building and blocked access to its interior as workers undertook a set of extensive rehabilitation projects.
The works have been completed and the building is once again open to the university community and curious public. I did what I always do when I enter an exciting space: I walked in and looked up. The central ceiling of the building’s atrium is glorious.
In a future post I will add to the pantheon of photographs of this building’s exterior, consider the expert opinions on its architectural importance and grapple with the rather mixed reviews the building garnered upon its completion a century ago.
That shade of blue 👍👍💙💙💙💙💙
