Auckland City Rail Project - Info Centre

The Auckland City Rail Project will bring a subway line to the city centre. An overview of the ambitious project can be found here.

Like any massive public works undertaking, the city rail project has created a public access nightmare on lower Albert Street and adjacent thoroughfares. The negative economic impact on the commercial shops along the affected streets has been enormous, profoundly regrettable but unavoidable.

When assessing the interim consequences of a public works project of such scale, one must take the long view. Once completed the project will surely enhance to a significant extent the quality of life and commerce in the central business district.

Full marks to the team that brought a lighthearted touch to the design of the project's public information centre.
