Victorian Villa - Devonport
I set off by ferry the other morning to meet a friend for coffee in Devonport. Before our rendezvous time, I wandered around the edges of Devonport’s business district to reacquaint myself with the historic homes of this charming seaside Auckland suburb.
One villa stood out among many beautiful homes.
A fin-de-siècle residence in the Victorian architectural style, following the most prominent residential architectural form at that time in Devonport, the home had several owners before it was reimagined as an elegant bed and breakfast.
Within the past few years, the owners retired the bed and breakfast operation and the villa has reverted to a private residence.
