ice cream in Wynyard Quarter
How to celebrate my three hundredth post? It’s fair to say that I did not foreclose the distinct possibility I would grow bored of the project. I am a restless type, someone who often moves on to another endeavour once the initial thrill of a new undertaking wears thin.
It may be equally fair to say that after 299 posts I have found a surprising but delightful momentum. I’m in this gig for the long term.
My celebratory mood hit me with my first feel of an early afternoon’s walk. Although Auckland is still in its winter season, the weather today would make summer blush - a bright sky with 19 Celsius (66 Fahrenheit) temperature. The day drew hundreds of families to Wynyard Quarter, my home in the western stretch of Auckland’s harbour front, to enjoy the amenities of Silo Park and its surroundings.
And so, in celebration of the 300th post to my Substack blog, I will feature a series of photographs with this and others posts to follow to pay homage to my adopted home in the Wynyard Quarter precinct of Auckland Central.
A lovely image. So glad you're carrying on with this project. There is so much of this city I have lived in all my life that I need to see!
