Art Deco echo on K Road

The signatures are apparent and abundant. The architectural motif for this window pairing pulls from an Art Deco pattern book.

Art Deco’s use of muted pastel colours is beautifully rendered here. Indeed, the soft combination of blue and pink with (contrasting) dark pink and grey trim is simply gorgeous.

The ornamental keystones atop each window — along with the repeating pattern of grey colouring within keystones, window ledge and its brackets, and the central medallion — are characteristic of the Art Deco style.

Lastly, the window trim — with its graceful and symmetrical interplay of rectilinear and curvilinear movement and fluted edge accents — is a defining element of the Art Deco style.

The architectural presentation is coy and seductive, both elegant and understated form and movement.
