Daldy Street birds mural
I love street art, notably an ambitious mural project. It is the street vernacular of en plein aire.
I trace a straight line from Palaeolithic cave painting to the contemporary muralist enterprise found in cities worldwide that value and promote an aesthetic of urban spaces.
Yes, the 'exhibit' spaces are markedly different - sequestered cave wall versus city thoroughfare.
There is however an overlapping intent to express creatively, and perhaps influence, a powerful moment of daily experience.
Going forward with my blog project, I plan to insert on a regular basis my favourite representations of Auckland's street art scene. It is rather glorious.
