rite of spring - Auckland Harbour
It is early Spring in New Zealand, maybe less so at the lower depths of the South Island, but New Zealand has declared itself ready and willing to do Spring-like things.
And a rite of spring in Auckland for those of nautical inclination is to unfurl sail and, like so many preening peacocks, traverse a watery promenade in a sail boat.
Sail boats in Auckland Harbour are no less fun to watch than a parade of peacocks, although in this moment of early Spring, which could as easily be categorised as late winter, a black and white image is far more impactful than the colour photograph one would want to capture the splendour of peacocks in procession.
