NZ visual diary - entry 95
a view from the sea - Auckland skyline
For the past two weeks (1-16 October 2022) Auckland has been awash with events promoted by the Auckland Heritage Festival. Yesterday afternoon Randolph and I, along with some mates, took advantage of one the festival's featured offerings - a ninety minute tour of Auckland's Waitematā Harbour on the William C Daldy tug, the largest operating steam-driven tug in New Zealand.
From its launch point at the Devonport Ferry Terminal, the tug traveled west across the Waitematā Harbour waterway offering spectacular views of the Auckland city centre skyline, the Auckland Harbour Bridge and the North Shore coastline.
The cloud formations were beautiful, if not also formidable and suggestive of a fierce rain storm that never materialised.
